FAQs
When Was The Wedding?
The original plan was for a very small ceremony in Hawaii in June 2025. Given the recent headwinds, we chose to get hitched on December 28, 2024 in a small ceremony. We’ll still be heading to Hawaii, the island where we got engaged, this June for a small ring exchange ceremony. Our main celebration is our reception this July and we hope to see you there!
There are multiple events, what?
We know some of you will be traveling, and for that we are so very grateful. We want to make sure we all have ample opportunity to see each other as desired. While we hope you’ll join us for the main reception, there are other optional activities you are all welcome to join if you wish. There will be details about each of these optional activities later on down this list after we review the main events.
What is the Dress Code for the Reception?
Rule #1 is be comfortable. While we’ll give some suggestions, you are MORE than welcome to come as you see fit. Since we were planning to wed in Hawaii and our reception is outside in our yard, we are striving for something akin to resort cocktail hour (see unnamed HBO show set in Hawaii/Italy/Thailand). We’ll be wearing linen.
Share some Details about the Cocktail Hour and Reception?
Of course! We are striving for celebratory and casual. There will be an open bar and hors d’ oeuvres while we gather, socialize, and tour our gardens. Dinner will follow with a homage to our beloved taco Tuesdays as we will be hosting a taco bar provided by the legendary La Plaza Taqueria (famously a mandatory stop /shoutout on Lizzo’s last tour). We will have delicious options for everyone. Dessert/ “wedding cake” will be a Cleveland-local favorite, Brewnuts.
We See there’s a Reception End-Time of 9:30 PM?
We live in a lovely and quiet neighborhood that we love and wish to respect our neighbors, especially since we’ll be outside. The party will certainly continue at the Afterparty, but that will be off site. We’ll be planning for last call at 8:30 PM at the reception and thank you all in advance for helping us respect our neighbors.
Alright, we’re Curious - Tell Us About the Afterparty
This is an optional, 21+ adult-themed event. Transportation will be provided to and from our house where the reception will occur. This event will be FUN, but please be aware this event will occur in a loving queer space and we’ve hired some incredibly talented drag kings and queens to perform. The humor will be pointed, direct, and “bawdy.” Should you choose to attend, we ask that you vociferously support our friends, the performers, with your cheers, claps, and wholly-appropriate cash tips. And don’t worry, we have hired some incredible performers for you all and cannot wait for this show.
What is “Family Bowling” on that Friday Evening?
This is an optional event if you happen to arrive in town early or already live here. Both of us have enjoyed bowling in past and bowling at Mahall’s was one of our very first dates! Ryan also grew up in a family that hosted an annual “family bowling” day so come join us for some spares, strikes, turkeys, and pitchers all around if you wish.
Brunch? Brunch.
Come with us to one of our favorite places in Cleveland for Sunday Brunch, Lincoln Park Pub in our old neighborhood, Tremont.
